The fun starts here and now

Retirement is a reality: a three day old reality already. Thus far it has consisted of cleaning, sorting, filing, gardening and insurance matters. The traveling will begin shortly.

We created a new compost bin. We emptied the old stuff into beds and top-dressings around the yard and in pots. All of Maddie's school plants are now in and will hopefully have a great Summer in the yard. The sumac is blooming like crazy; it must finally feel at home.

Packing for Alaska is happening: most of the food, kitchen equipment and first aid stuff is ready. So is the fan, the LED lamp, the battery chargers and the miscellaneous box. We both have piles of clothes started. So much to remember: rain gear, hiking gear, hot weather gear, cold weather gear, traveling gear, and the list goes on. We haven't done this in a long while so our lists are way out of date.

Now we are just waiting for a few last-minutes items to arrive and then we can hit the GO button.
