Hiked along the Big River just south of the village of Mendocino for about 5 miles. Beautiful day in northern California: the sun is out! Lots of wildflowers and blackberries. After lunch we all relax. I sat in Wardlaw's wonderful backyard watching some very busy hummingbirds enjoy all the flowers in bloom in their garden. I have never seen hummingbirds perch on a branch nor chirp. The dog [Alice] is basking in the warm sun. In the background I can hear the waves crashing down below in the town.

Sounds amazing!!! We walked along the waterfront in Olympia, WA tonight...we will be on the West Coast tomorrow morning. Watch the shoreline, we'll send you a message in a bottle....
